JAPAN 2024

Japan - Okinawa 2024

In April 2024, I visited Japan on business. I decided to take the next few days off, visit Okinawa and try to find and photograph local varieties of citrus as they grow and are grown in their native habitat. Among them especially the species Citrus ryukyuensis, discovered in 2021, and the rare cultivar Citrus rokugatsu, which has already disappeared from Czech collections. Okinawa is an ancient centre of diversity of Japanese citrus, so I was expecting much more.
